Lottery Announces Winners Of Third Mega Monopoly™ Drawing

The West Virginia Lottery’s first-place, $5,000 winner in today’s Mega Monopoly™ drawing was Jeff Lewis of Follansbee, according to Lottery Director John Musgrave.

Employed as a carpet layer, Lewis has three children. He said it was the first time in his life he had ever won anything. “This will really help out with the kids and several bills.”

The mother of two children and two grandchildren, Rupert resident Melissa Jones said her $2,500 is one of three big lottery prizes she has claimed. “I won a $30,000 Powerball prize and a $10,000 Deal or No Deal instant prize several years ago . . . this is just incredible.”

Those winning the two $1,000 prizes were Don Smotzer of Pursglove and Veronica Sorgman of Charleston. In Monongalia County to help his sister’s restaurant business, Smotzer said his home is in Colorado.

Ms. Sorgman said she has one child and will use her prize to support her son. “This will be a special Christmas for both of us.”

Musgrave said a $150,000 grand prize drawing is scheduled for Dec. 16. While winning entries from previous drawings will be discarded, Musgrave said all non-winning tickets would be included in the final drawing.
